Singapore/Suzhou, 15 March 2024 – Durapower Holdings, a leading Singapore-based lithium-ion battery manufacturer, today marked a significant milestone with the groundbreaking ceremony for its new advanced battery manufacturing facility in Suzhou, China. The expansion through its subsidiary Suzhou Durapower Technology Co Ltd represents a major step in the company’s global growth strategy.

Spanning an impressive 32,500 square meters, the new facility will house three cutting-edge production lines and a dedicated R&D center across four floors. Scheduled for full operational status by Q2 2025, the factory is projected to deliver 2.0 GWh annual production capacity at peak utilization – doubling the output of Durapower’s existing operations.

The Suzhou facility will incorporate fully automated intelligent production systems expected to boost manufacturing efficiency by over 50%. This strategic investment solidifies Durapower’s position as a regional leader in energy storage solutions while enhancing its ability to meet growing market demand across China and international markets.

The factory will produce the company’s innovative line of high-power, lightweight battery systems that have achieved global certifications. These advanced energy solutions will power diverse applications including electric mobility platforms, specialised industrial equipment, maritime vessels, and stationary energy storage systems.

Demonstrating its commitment to sustainable manufacturing, the facility will utilize both existing steam power and new rooftop solar panel installations capable of generating 500 MWh annually. This clean energy initiative aligns with Durapower’s broader environmental, social and governance (ESG) objectives toward carbon neutrality.

Mr. Kelvin Lim, Chief Executive Officer of Durapower Group, emphasized the project’s strategic importance: “The Suzhou factory represents a transformative chapter in our growth story. Beyond significantly expanding our production and innovation capabilities, this facility embodies our sustainability vision through its ESG-focused design. We intend for it to serve as a benchmark for our global operations as we advance toward a circular economy model.”

The Suzhou expansion comes as Durapower continues to strengthen its position in the global energy storage market, with solutions deployed across 25 countries and a proven track record of more than 1 billion electric kilometers powered by its battery systems.
