Since being appointed as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Catalist-listed real estate investment and management company ProsperCap Corporation Limited in April 2025, Ooi Chee Eng has hit the ground running. In between meetings and discussions, we managed to snatch some quick responses from him to 3 noteworthy questions.

Q: What were your first impressions of the Company?

A: There was an instant recognition when I felt the vibrant and respectful vibes in the company. The staff are close-knit, focused, and committed to improving the company’s performance in their respective roles.

Q2: What do you bring to the table at ProsperCap?

A: It is both my pleasure and aspiration to be working alongside our CEO, Iqbal Jumabhoy, to advance the strategic directions of ProsperCap. I will be using my knowledge and capabilities to help the Company explore and evaluate various corporate financing opportunities.

Q3: In your opinion, what makes a good investment?

A: Besides checking all the financial indicator boxes, such as liquidity, profitability, and returns, a good investment often boasts an experienced and capable management that can execute the business model, adapt to challenges, and scale efficiently.

On top of that, a good investment should be based on solid foundations, such as property assets, core business functionality or technical capability.

In my opinion, unrealised or untapped potential and prospects could bring greater returns in the future than what is visible and available today.
