Durapower Holdings has partnered with UK-based Ecomar Propulsion, a designer and producer of zero emission engines for commercial marine users, to provide battery solutions provider for Ecomar’s EV boats.

Durapower has provided its batteries in a refurbished 30-year-old Ecomar boat, Vikoma, for harbour oil spill control purposes. Vikoma’s design maximises the number of recyclable parts including driveshaft, rudder and high voltage energy system. The cooling system draws in raw sea water and removes excess heat via a heat exchanger within a closed loop, resulting in no pollution. Shoreham Port has already leased the boat for 3 years, which is supplemented by solar panels which reduce the cost of operations by 25% making it incredibly cost effective.

Vikoma is now conducting port operations at Shoreham Port on the South Coast of England, with a new lease of life for at least another 10 years till 2034.
